Forging Ahead

Forging Ahead

As of the writing of this post, it’s only been a couple of days since the passing of Robin Williams. A brilliant light has been put out before it’s time, and the entire world is still processing it. This isn’t the only time this has happened to us and sadly it won’t be the last. People we care about and enjoy having in our lives will at some point no longer be there. Sometimes we know them personally, having them in our lives every day. Other times it is an actor, director, or athlete that has impacted our lives in ways that can’t always be put into words.

These are not easy times for anyone. There are hard lessons to learn from these situations. It’s something that is hard to comprehend while the sting is so new, but one of the most important things to understand is that we must not stop.

For those of us who have chosen the entertainment industry must understand this sooner than others. Whether you have 10 fans or 10 millions fans, there is a duty to continue on with what you do. From Sports to Music to Movies to countless other mediums, people will always need a release. People need to have their mind taken off of something tragic or sad in their lives, and it’s up to us to provide that for them.

I’ve been a part of this team for years, and we’ve release nearly 100 podcasts. This provides something for people to listen to on their drives to work, even if our reach is only a few listeners. It makes me happy to know that something I am a part of has brought some laughter to the world. I also know that the next few we record will be with Mr. Williams in mind. He brought endless laughter to millions of people, and only too late did everyone discover that he did so with a heavy heart and more on his mind than most can ever understand.

That is why I felt compelled to post this. For years Mr. Williams carried us through hard times with his enthusiasm for every role he played. It now falls to everyone else in the industry to pick up where he left off and continue bringing people joy and excitement with everything we are.

Rest Easy Robin, we’ll take it from here.
